…For every ‘body’ and focus:

Preschool and Kindergarten Dance

Our young children’s dance program welcomes students ages approximately 2 – 6 years to the magical world of dance and music!  Classes in this program assist children to develop physical skills, eye-hand coordination, improve balance and agility, increase rhythmic awareness, spark imagination, increase confidence, build self esteem and get physically fit while having fun! During your child’s first couple of classes, teachers may suggest a different class or level. All young dancers must be met by the door of the studio at the end of their class.   Read more..

Recreational, Intensive, Classical or Comprehensive Dancer Program

IDT offers a comprehensive dance program with a focus on strong ballet technique as the foundation for all dance forms.  Students may choose a recreational or intensive path which focuses on their goal of study, be it through the IDT ballet conservatory program or the IDT comprehensive dance education program.

Teen Open/Beginner Program

Dance is for everyone, of any age. We offer specific classes for the pre teen/teen who is interested in dance and movement, no matter the level of experience.  We have many success stories of dancers who have gone off to amazing dance programs at the collegiate level who started in our teen open programs. If dancers have a goal to integrate into the intensive program, we can help devise a plan to achieve that goal.  Or, just dance for the sheer joy of it. That is OK too!

Adult Open Program

Dance is a family affair for all! We offer open ballet, tap and more during the week, hula classes on Sundays, and as much else as possible based on your requests. Adults receive discounted class punch cards. All abilities welcome!

We invite all young dancers age 6.5 and up who LOVE to perform to join our IDT Performing Groups who participate at competitions, festivals, IDT Performances and community events in addition to their heightened training and classes throughout the year. Students enjoy and benefit from the camaraderie of being in a team atmosphere, while the program focuses on educating young people to strive for their personal best in anything they want to accomplish! There are great lessons to be learned through the performance experience that go far beyond the steps. Read more..

Healthy Dancer Program

The IDT Staff believes strongly in healthy body, mind and spirit for all. What we put into our bodies and how we condition and care for our own physical and mental health and that of others. We will hold periodic workshops with various self care themes, and include topics within our curriculum at each level on a physiological and psychological level.

BOMA (Best Of My Abilities) is a class created and taught by fabulous teacher, Ms. Emmy Fansler, of mixed capabilities where we learn how to dance together and showcase the best of all our abilities. This is an inclusive class for those who need more support due to specific sensory needs or physical challenges which may take a little more individual instruction and creativity.  Students will gain not only body awareness and technique, but also life skills to be positive, creative, and empathetic relationship-builders, communicators, and artists.
